ES Cillian blog

Many of our students are being asked to reflect on various aspects of their lives during this time. The reflection below was written by 6th grade student Cillian in response to questions posed to him by his teachers, Molly and Emily.

Online learning caused us to learn new things very quickly. What have you learned about yourself in this experience? How have you grown as a student? In what academic areas do you feel like you have improved? In what areas have you felt you needed more support?

I think what I’ve learned about myself is that I take a lot for granted. This is a tough time for all of us, but I am lucky enough to live in a nice house and have an amazing family, a bed to sleep in, and food on the table. Though I am grateful for what I have, I think that I am much more grateful now than I was before the Coronavirus took over our lives. For better or worse, this time has taught me that we all need to appreciate what we have because it could be a lot worse.

I’ve grown as a student because I had to adapt to this new normal. This experience has changed the way I look at school.
